Magical Miniatures

If you love all things magical and miniature you are in the right place.

About me and my blog

I am a mother of three and work on a market stall. In my free time I love to make magical miniatures. It all started with my gran who spent hours when I was a child teaching me how to make do. This entailed mending and fixing and making things from scratch. My dolls house consisted of cardboard boxes with windows cut out, beautifully decorated and all furniture hand made. We sat for hours making clothes and accessories for my dolls to the envy of my friends that all had the same generic stuff. So thanks gran for the inspiration. I hope you enjoy my art and my blog. Thanks for visiting.

Full set of 1.12 scale tarot cards and box

After making the dolls house 1.12 scale set of tarot cards I was asked to make a full working set for a customer, also in miniature.
They are a little smaller than the last decks. I think they turned out great.

3 sets of tarots and boxes

Earlier I posted the tarot cards I had made and a not so cute mock up box. Well I have made 3 little boxes for 3 sets of cards and am happy with the results. I am considering doing a tutorial and free printable box with cards so i'll keep you posted.

1.12 Scale tarot cards, fallen plant pot and hanging crystals.

                                                       Tarot cards
For a while now I have wanted to make some 1.12 scale tarot cards, so I scanned in a few from my spare deck, re sized then printed onto card.
I stuck some patterned paper to the back then cut them out.
I am going to make some little boxes to pop them in then they will be all done.

Fallen pot
For a scene I intend to make I wanted a plant pot that had fallen over so I mixed some fake dirt and a touch of moss with pva glue then situating the pot on some cling film I spread in the mixture. It turned out quite well as my partner thought i'd knocked it over as it lay on the side.

Hanging crystals (not miniature)
I could not resist showing you the two hanging crystals I put together. All though a little naughty as they are not miniature! I think they are very pretty. I started with just a crystal and the rest came from my bead box. The golden one has amber beads and the silver has Hematite and cut glass beads. Hanging in the window they will cast rainbows all around your room.

Mock up Tarot card box
I have put together (a little clumsily) a tarot card box, just to make sure I was happy with the look and size. I think I am so all I have to do now is make 3 perfect ones!

Gothic bed

I have been working on the Gothic bed I started a little while ago. I still need to paint the feet and make bedding etc but the bulk of it is done.
I made the headboard and foot board from balsa wood, stuck on some cotton wool then covered them with material. To give a nice finish I cut smaller versions from card, also covered in material then stuck over the seams.
The legs are card covered in material, topped with resin skulls and polystyrene balls as feet. These I stuck to the sides of the foot and headboard.
The base is wood, topped with foam then covered in material and finished off with a frilly trim.
Once stuck together I added a bar aether side  to support the legs.

Bead bottles

I have been making bead bottles and crystal balls, all 1.12 scale for my Etsy shop. I have used glass and pewter beads for the bottles and glass balls, metal bead caps and glass beads with a silver centre for the crystal balls.
