Magical Miniatures

If you love all things magical and miniature you are in the right place.

About me and my blog

I am a mother of three and work on a market stall. In my free time I love to make magical miniatures. It all started with my gran who spent hours when I was a child teaching me how to make do. This entailed mending and fixing and making things from scratch. My dolls house consisted of cardboard boxes with windows cut out, beautifully decorated and all furniture hand made. We sat for hours making clothes and accessories for my dolls to the envy of my friends that all had the same generic stuff. So thanks gran for the inspiration. I hope you enjoy my art and my blog. Thanks for visiting.

Autumnal has her face painted.

Autumnal my leaf fairy is now completely finished.  I have painted her eyelids, eyes and lips and I think she looks beautiful. With her all done I just need to hang her from invisible thread.

Autumnal nearly done

Only her eyes and lips to paint but other than that she is done and I love her.

Autumnal the leaf fairy

I have serious issues in Autumn.  I can't stop bringing the outside in. Any fallen leaves nut cases etc are never left. What I don't use my little girl does.
With Autumn come so many textures and colours. It sets the mind racing.
With my newly discovered love of polymer clay and a bag of salvaged things the possibilities seemed endless. I rummaged through to keep coming back to 1 leaf. I saw a fairy's skirt in that leaf and it all started to come together from there. Autumnal is or at least will be a leaf fairy. Dressed in leaves I collected, shaped then dried I think she will be beautiful.
I have varnished the leaves and added glitter. I will add more varnish in the hope it helps stop the leaves from crumbling.  As you can imagine she is extremely delicate.

A hidden miniature village

While out collecting bits of nature for miniatures we walked through a grave yard I have been in countless times to find a sign on a tree. Through a little gate there was a garden. Wandering through I came across an array of miniature houses.
It was a beautiful sight. My pictures don't do justice but I wanted to show you anyway.

Gumford all done

With my plinth all done I decided to paint it rather than stain it. I added felt and my card to the base and then pegged on Gumfords abode until it stuck to the top. Once everything was in place I did all the last bits. I love the finished thing.

Gumfords abode

Well I have only the base of Gumfords abode to do now. The plinth will be the same shape and size made from wood, stained and varnished with a matt finish.
For my actual theme I have added a basket, lined with moss to cushion the fairy dust. The scenic water is now in the pool and I added a few apples to the tree and on the ground then made a camp fire.
I also moved the tree stump table over a bit. Now I think any ogre would be happy here.
